TOP CHEF!!!

So, my DSL is still ass. The wireless is going in and out and I'm just getting used to life without being on-line - a life surprisingly wonderful. Who knew?

The wireless was officially fiddled with yesterday and looks to be up and running so, I can maybe think about blogging Top Chef - whereas before I'd resigned myself to not being able to.

So, the challenge was to team up, pick a district of New York and you and your partner would go head to head cooking an ethnic dish from that area. Winner is safe, loser goes back for possible elimination. First thoughts? Who DIDN'T think little Patrick was going to go home? His little, rosy red cheeks, that tireless sweetness...yeah, he was doomed. I'm also starting a new game in these beginning weeks: whomever brags the most in their confessional, goes home the quickest - as was the example of First Girl Gone (don't even remember her name - website says it Lauren) She was all - yeah, one of those coats is definitely mine, blah blah blah. Next shot: her on the ferry home.

Who I love? Eugene. He has that motherfucker quality blended with a genuine loveliness. I love a man with a tattoo, as well. So, I may be partial. Not feeling Stefan and Fabio - they seem like blowhards. Stefan actually has something to back it up: winning both the Quickfire and the Elimination challenge, but Fabio...uh, brother needs to back his shit up if he wants to keep talking shit. I love Carla, the little fairy girl who said she's guided by "spirits." She crazy, but totally harmless. Who else...intrigued by Alex, Hosea and Jeff. Three pretty solid chefs...and uh...not so bad to look at either. Ahem. Just sayin - they're no Harold or Dale, but WHO IS?!?!

I got a bit nervous with Jamie - she has some Tiffany/Lisa qualities to her. The one that's always all: I'm here to win, not make friends. So. Predictable. You have zero social skills. What do you say when not in a cooking competition? Like at a market or a Starbucks when you're being a bitch? Uh, yeah - I'm here to win, not make friends. The guy behind the counter is all...uh, do you want to order something? I'M HERE TO WIN, NOT MAKE FRIENDS! Sigh. Because who could be mean to Richard? He thinks Tom is cute!! He's lovely and friendly and JAMIE WAS MEAN TO HIM. Snifffff....

Danny seems feh. I liked Ariane and see myself growing to like her more...she feels like someone's Mom, or something...and Courtney Cox. Someone's Mom and Courtney Cox. I totally like Jill- the word 'coltish' kept running through my head...she seems solid and cool. Couldn't get a handle on Leah, just felt bad for Radhika. Melissa I have no idea about...she seems bewildered half the time and the other half the time I'm just kinda looking at her eyebrows.

So next week!

Oh, and I'm TOTALLY OBSESSED with Top Gear. I want to marry it. I want to make out with it a little. I. Am. Obsessed. Check it out - Mondays, I think, on BBCAmerica.

TOP GEAR absolutely rocks. I love the three of them best on their challenges and how they live to take the mickey out of each other. They have video on their new U.S. Web site of some of their most outrageous events. LOVE IT!!!

Liza, I've missed your blogging! Hooray for Top Chef. And btw, if you marry Top Gear, it's going to expect a little more than making out. Nothing major, just a little over the bra, under the sweater ;)

Liza,

I love Top Gear, too. Glad I'm not the only one who's not into cars, but finds the show freaking fantastic! Did you see the episode where they came to the US and they each drove a clunker car from Florida to New Orleans? Funniest thing ever.

KSQuard!

I've seen the Boat one, the one where they race to Oslo and the Botswana Challenge and I have yet to delete them from my Tivo...I just keep watching them! I'm obsessed! And all of the sudden, I want a McLaren Mercedes SLR - now I just need 300,000 pounds. :)

Mojo!

Seriously - I would absolutely let Top Gear go all the way. For real.
